The problem

The jockey wheel on my caravan has a steel tightening handle that was proving difficult to tighten fully, so I designed a basic handle that allows a better grip.

The jockey wheel assembly was also difficult to lift easily. The commercially available lifting handle required tools to fit and adjust, so I designed a tool-free version instead.

Design & CAD

Both handles were designed in Fusion 360, and both feature tool-free installation and use.

Build notes

Both handles are printed in PETG, 4 perimeters and 40% infill — supports are required for the bottom edge of the lifting handle.

The tightening handle is an interference fit: it simply pushes onto the steel handle. Depending on your 3D printer's tolerances, this may need a slight scaling adjustment in your slicer.

The lifting handle requires an M8 x 40mm hex bolt and an M8 nyloc nut.
