Caravan Feet
Feet that let a caravan's corner steadies cope with softer ground — in use for over two years, with plenty of admiring comments from fellow campers.
Completed foot mounted to corner steady
The problem
The caravan had no feet to allow use on softer ground, so these were designed to offer a novel solution to the problem.
Design & CAD
I came across this design concept on Printables (which itself credits a Thingiverse author), but the original didn't fit my particular corner steadies, so I redesigned it in Fusion 360 and added some extra features.
Refer to the AL-KO diagram for the corner steady dimensions — please check these before printing.
Build notes
The feet are printed in PETG, 4 perimeters and 40% infill — no post-processing required.
The bushes are printed in eSUN TPE flexible filament, 4 perimeters and 100% infill. Three bush sizes are provided since I found the caravan's steadies varied slightly in width due to manufacturing tolerances — print a few of each and test-fit as you go.
Hardware required:
- 4 x M8 x 160mm 304 stainless steel fully threaded rod
- 8 x M8 nyloc nuts
